This is an article published in the'Diplomacy Portal', the internal system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs last March.

We announced a specific account number, saying that we are operating an official account for employees who have difficulty delivering congratulations and condolence expenses due to unavoidable reasons such as working at diplomatic missions abroad.

This is the intent of sending congratulations and condolence expenses from overseas to this account, and it will be delivered instead.

The person in charge who announced this is Mr. A, a 30-year-old arms contract employee belonging to the Planning and Coordination Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As a result of SBS coverage, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Mr. A had embezzled 200 million won, fired Mr. A, and took criminal charges.

Of the 200 million won embezzled by Mr. A, 100 million won was returned. Although it is not the budget or the national treasury, it seems difficult to avoid this criticism because it embezzled expenses managed by the official account of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It is reported that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also facing additional disciplinary procedures for officials to hold supervisory responsibility.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs internally announced yesterday that it will abolish the operation of the congratulatory and condolence expense account next month when this problem arose.
