The matches of the Six Nations Women's Tournament which were to pit Ireland against France and Wales against Scotland on Sunday, in Dublin and Cardiff respectively, have been postponed "to a later date" due to positive Covid cases -19, the organizers announced Thursday.

The postponement of the first match "comes after a number of French players have tested positive" for the coronavirus, the Six Nations Committee said.

"All the cases detected have been isolated and are followed by the medical authorities of the French Rugby Federation (FFR) permanently", also specified the FFR in a press release, without disclosing the precise number of cases detected.

The FFR made it clear that the workforce of the men's XV of France, which trains on the same site as the French in Marcoussis, has been kept in "its sanitary bubble" and that all the tests carried out "are negative "including for framing.

Regarding the second match of the Women's Tournament, a Scottish player tested positive for the virus on Thursday, the Six Nations Committee said.

Four other Scottish players "withdrew from the team after being identified as + close contacts + with members of the France team," said tournament organizers.

Scots and French clashed last Sunday in Glasgow (13-13).

The match between Italy and England, already guaranteed to keep their title in the Tournament, is not concerned and must take place on Sunday in Parma as planned.

The French women occupy the second place in the Tournament with the same number of points (13) as the Irish, third but a better point-average.
