A French police source said today, Thursday, that a woman was beheaded after a stabbing attack in Nice.

The French politician, belonging to the far-right, Marine Le Pen, told reporters at Parliament in Paris that "a beheading occurred during the attack," according to the agency "Reuters"

French media and police reported that "an attacker killed 3 people and wounded several others, today, Thursday, in a church in the French city of Nice, in an incident that the city’s mayor described as a terrorist act."

The French Interior Minister confirmed that "there is a security operation underway in the city of Nice," while the French police wrote on Twitter: "One person was killed and another wounded in a knife attack in Nice, southern France, and the police arrest the aggressor," before confirming in another tweet that two people were killed in the attack.

The attack comes while France is still suffering from the consequences of the beheading of teacher Samuel Batey this month by a man of Chechen origin, who justified his action by saying that he "wanted to punish Bate for showing cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad to students in a lesson on freedom of expression."
