Macron announces a new lockdown in France to face the second wave of the "Corona" pandemic

French President Emmanuel Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron announced a new closure that does not include schools from October 30 until December 1 to confront the second wave of the Corona pandemic.

The French President said in a televised speech this evening that bars, restaurants and non-major stores will be closed in the country, starting from Friday, as part of a new closure.

Macron warned that his country may record at least 400,000 additional deaths within months if it fails to act against Covid-19 on the basis of the idea of achieving group immunity.

He added that citizens will again need a signed permit to leave their homes, which will only be allowed for a limited number of reasons, but schools and government offices will remain open.

"The virus is spreading in France at a speed that was not predicted by even the most pessimistic forecast," Macron said.

Macron emphasized that no other solution is possible, such as seeking herd immunity or imposing a lockdown on only vulnerable and most vulnerable people.

Yesterday, France recorded 523 deaths from the virus, the highest daily rate since last April, when the outbreak was at its peak.

Doctors have warned that the intensive care units are about to reach their maximum capacity.
