The Generalitat is considering home confinement during weekends in Catalonia as an additional measure to the curfew that already applies in the autonomous community between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

This is what the Minister of the Presidency of the Government,

Meritxell Budó

, has admitted this Monday with great clarity

.

"The weekend confinement is an option that is on the table," he said.

“We have to avoid the lockdown in March unless it is strictly necessary.

So we have to explore different scenarios and one scenario could be that.

It is an option that is contemplated,

”the Catalan Executive spokesperson also insisted in an interview with

Catalunya Ràdio

.

Budó has admitted, however, that the Government could not impose this type of restrictions "unilaterally", because the state of alarm is "insufficient" and "limits" the decisions of the autonomies.

The Minister of the Presidency has recognized that the alarm decree does not allow the Generalitat to impose home confinements without requesting authorization from the Government or the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC).

Budó already pointed out last week the possibility of a total home confinement that, he assured, could also imply the closure of schools.
