Accidents of this type have increased since the
closure of schools due to the
coronavirus
pandemic
, warned the organization Moms Demand Action, which fights against the proliferation of weapons in a country where a third of adults have at least one firearm.
"With more children at home during the pandemic, it is more important than ever to have
safe storage space. The
stakes are high," said Christine Parker, a representative for the organization in Texas.
According to an investigation by the Everytown for Gun Safety association, at least
97 deaths
are related to "unintentional shooting" of children or minors since the beginning of the year.
