A new record has been set in France in the Covid-19 epidemic with 52,010 additional cases recorded in 24 hours, according to official figures released on Sunday.

The day before, this country had identified more than 45,000 new contaminations, after having crossed the threshold of one million confirmed cases on Friday since the appearance of Covid-19.

The number of deaths attributable to this disease rose to 116 for the day of Sunday, bringing their total number since the start of the pandemic to 34,761, according to Public Health France.

The test positivity rate continues to increase, reaching 17%, against 16% the day before and only 4.5% at the beginning of September.
