A long chase

Indicted on Wednesday, this police officer from the Paris anti-crime brigade (BAC) was placed under judicial control.

On the night of Saturday, October 17, he killed a 28-year-old motorist after a long chase that began in the capital.

According to a first version of the facts presented by the prosecution and a police source a few hours after the incident, he opened fire on the vehicle when it was rushing at him.

The car had been spotted shortly before by the official and two of his colleagues from the BAC, after "erratic maneuvers" on the Paris ring road.

On board, the 28-year-old driver and two passengers, 29 and 33 years old, all from Yvelines.

The driver then refused to comply and fled: a chase then began on the A13 to Poissy, where the driver stopped his car.

The agent then gets out of his vehicle and the motorist restarts, "endangering the police officer who, as the car passes, opens fire and fatally injures the driver", the prosecution assured last week.

The agent's version called into question by the investigation

A version today questioned by the investigation, the first elements of which do not allow us to certify that the car hit the police officer.

"It's an observation on his part, an impression. (...). The only thing rather established is that the car moved, rolled. At high speed or not, that, we do not know. again, "the prosecution told AFP.

Two investigations had been opened: one, entrusted to the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN) to clarify the circumstances of the shooting of the police officer, the other conducted by the Departmental Security for refusal to comply and attempted homicide. .
