From Treriksröset in the north to Åre in the south, it is now meteorological winter - this means that the daily average temperature has been zero degrees or lower for at least five days.

On SMHI's season map, the whole of Norrbotten is covered by the dark blue color that symbolizes winter, and even in parts of Västerbotten it has been chilly this week.

- We had the season's lowest record in temperature on Friday morning.

Then it was minus 17.8 degrees in Vilhelmina, says Sofia Söderberg, meteorologist at SMHI.

Last week came the season's first real snowfall in Sweden.

This weekend it continues to snow in northern Norrland - and with good reason.

- There can be larger amounts of snow in the interior of Norrbotten County, says Sofia Söderberg.

Ice skating warning

SMHI has issued a class 1 warning for snowfall from Sunday afternoon until Monday night in the interior of Norrbotten County.

There may be around 5-15 centimeters of snow, mainly in the western parts.

Anyone who is going out on the roads already during Sunday morning and in the morning in the central parts of the country should take it carefully.

SMHI class 1 warns of sudden ice slip in parts of Västernorrland County and Jämtland County, where rain can fall on cold roads.

Sunshine on the islands

In the south, however, it continues to be relatively mild.

- It is cloudy, occasionally raining and can be a bit hazy.

In the Baltic Sea landscape, mainly on Öland, Gotland and along the coast, there can be some sunshine, says Sofia Söderberg.

TT: When does winter come to Svealand and Götaland?

- You have to wait a while longer.

It is still mild for the next 24 hours, and no direct cooling at the entrance.
