"Slovenian and Italian citizens can cross the border between Italy and Slovenia from any crossing point, while citizens of third countries can only cross some specific crossings".

The Italian embassy in Ljubljana specifies this on its website.

In Slovenia, a ban on movement for people between 21 and 6 in the morning has been in force since 21 October.

The ban on travel between regions does not apply to transporters and people in transit to other countries.

In the afternoon of today the Slovenian local media had spread the news of a decision by the government of Ljubljana, taken late yesterday evening, concerning the intention to close the borders with Italy starting from Monday 26, due to the increase of coronavirus cases.

The news had also provoked the firm position of the regional councilor for local autonomy, security and immigration policies of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Pierpaolo Roberti, who had turned to the Italian government to ask for immediate interventions to avoid closure.
