Uppsala is one of the regions in Sweden where the spread of the coronavirus is the fastest and she reacts to people being crowded as if nothing has happened.

- It's in pure Swedish damn.

It is so insane that it is not wise, says Agneta.

On Tuesday, the Swedish Public Health Agency issued local councils for the first time.

They mean that all residents in Uppsala County must avoid traveling by public transport and only spend time with people from their own household.

Is there a difference?

- No.

I was going to the hospital by bus the other day.

Three buses had to pass because they were full, says Agneta.

- It feels like there are many who do not have the strength to hold on and persevere, says Karin Wallentin, who is also in town to shop but who had corona and is now healthy.

Healthcare staff under heavy pressure

At the same time, the situation is once again becoming difficult for healthcare staff.

The regular places for intensive care at the Academic Hospital are on the verge of being fully occupied by covid patients only.

To cope with the pressure, patients have had to be moved to other hospitals.

- The situation has escalated over the past two weeks.

There have been more and more admissions, says Jenny Byttner, section manager at the Emergency Department at the University Hospital.

The increasing spread of infection is putting a heavy strain on the already pressured healthcare staff.

- There are many who are tired.

We've been living in this pandemic since March, so it's heavy.

"Is not over"

She now wants the public to take in the new advice.

- I hope that people understand the seriousness, that the spread of infection is not over and that they follow the recommendations and advice that exist, says Jenny Byttner.

Healthcare is also worried that the burden may increase further in the near future.

- I think it will be a continued pressure situation with an increased number of admissions, says Jenny Byttner.
