The mayor noted that this is the first pilot project of this kind in Russia, and it will last until July 2, 2021.

"The purpose of the experiment is to reduce the load at rush hour and to enable better social distance in the metro," Sobyanin explained.

As explained in "Moskovsky Transport", the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya line has been chosen for the pilot project, since it is the most in demand, which is especially noticeable in the morning.

“Nekrasovskaya line is participating in the project due to the fact that in the southern section it duplicates the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya line,” they added.

Earlier, the head of the Moscow metro infrastructure directorate Dmitry Doschatov said that the metro is being prepared for work in the winter.

Heating in the Moscow metro is planned to be turned on as the temperature drops.
