January 26, 2015 Admiration for the Greek dictator Ioannis Metaxas, who led the country from 1936 to 1941, is one of the glues of the Golden Dawn Movement.

A political force - the third in Greece - which clearly refers to neo-fascist and neo-Nazi canons and ideas.

Fascist and Nazi symbols are often displayed during party demonstrations.

Golden Dawn, however, simply declares himself "neo-nationalist".

Among the ideas, put forward by the leader Nikólaos Michaloliákos, the fight against immigration, the fight against the austerity policies wanted by the European Union.

On immigration, Michaloliákos put it this way: "To save Greece from the danger caused by immigrants, we must block the entrances into the country by using minefields on the border with Turkey, along the Evros river, at the points that register the greatest passage illegal immigrants ".

2013 is an important year for the history of the movement.

A militant, Georgios Roupakias, kills the anti-fascist rapper Pavlos Fyssas.

The judges: "Golden Dawn is a criminal organization"

The leader of the Golden Dawn, Nikólaos Michaloliákos is arrested on charges of having started a real "criminal organization" and of holding weapons illegally.

Two deputies of the movement, Christos Pappas and Ioannis Lagos, were also in handcuffs with him.

The prosecution claims that Fyssas's assassination was premeditated within the movement.

Not only that, according to the magistrates, Golden Dawn is also involved in some cases of violence against immigrants.

The trial has yet to take place.
