Olivier Giroud equaled the 41 goals scored for the French team by the former triple Golden Ball Michel Platini, thus becoming co-second top scorer in the history of the Blues in a friendly match against Ukraine , Wednesday evening of its 100th selection.
"When I score my partners it is a great pleasure, but of course my goal is to equal him as quickly as possible. It would be a great privilege and a huge pride to be able to match the legend of French football", Chelsea striker explained this week.
At 34, Giroud is now ten lengths behind Thierry Henry, top scorer for the France team with his 51 goals scored between 1997 and 2010.
Among the players still active, Antoine Griezmann is behind Giroud with 31 achievements.
The FC Barcelona striker, 29, is three lengths from David Trézéguet, fourth top scorer in the history of the Blues.
