The criminal court of Béziers (Hérault) sentenced an individual, who had seriously injured a man with a homemade knife, to 7 years in prison, to which were added 6 months of imprisonment in revocation of a previous suspension.

Justice also sentenced him to a ban on staying in the Hérault for five years, when he comes out of detention, and to a ban on holding any weapon.

In the night of August 21 to 22, in Montblanc, "for a futile reason", then indicated the parquet floor of Béziers, a brawl had broken out between two men who had not known each other until then.

One of them had seriously injured the other by striking him several times with a homemade weapon made with a toothbrush handle and razor blades.

The assailant then fled.

Multiple injuries

The victim, a 36-year-old father, had tendons and nerves severed in one hand, and several wounds, including one in the throat, which required the placement of 24 staples between the chin and the right ear.

The attacker had been identified and then arrested at his home on August 27, 2020, after trying to flee through the roofs.

The 26-year-old, already convicted several times, in particular for violence, the man admitted during police custody that he was the author of the facts, that he had lost his temper and that he regretted it .

"He denied having intended to kill his opponent, claiming to have taken out his homemade weapon for fear of not having the upper hand in the fight," then noted the prosecution.
