30 September 2020The visit by the team of the Council of Europe Committee of Experts on the evaluation of measures to combat money laundering and terrorist financing, as part of the fifth round of evaluations ("Fifth Evaluation Round "), agreed in 2019, to which all the jurisdictions belonging to the Moneyval Group are progressively subjected.
This was announced by the Vatican press office.
This evaluation phase "has as its main object of interest the effectiveness of the legislative and organizational instruments adopted in recent years by the jurisdictions to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing".
"The current evaluation for the Holy See is part of the natural evolution of a process that began with the first site visit in 2012 and the subsequent adoption of the Mutual Evaluation Report of July 4, 2012 and continued with the First Progress Report of December 9, 2013, of the Second Progress Report of December 8, 2015 and of the Third Progress Report of December 6, 2017 ", explains the Press Room.
