The Basic Health Zones into which the Madrid region is divided have become the way to delimit the areas with restricted mobility that were announced on September 18 and those that were added last Friday by another eight, now being a total of 45 zones.

The Ministry of Health publishes since the beginning of July every Tuesday morning the information on the number of coronavirus cases per 100,000 inhabitants in each of these areas.

The publication of today's data has been postponed until late in the afternoon, coinciding with the end of the meeting between the Ministry of Health and the homologous Madrid council.

Among the 45 areas where mobility restrictions already exist, the cumulative incidence per 100,000 inhabitants has fallen by 29, has remained the same in two and has grown in the remaining 14.

The most pronounced falls have taken place in Guayaba (Carabanchel), Orcasur (Usera), La Elipa (Ciudad Lineal) and Martínez de la Riva (Puente de Vallecas), which registered a 26% fall in incidence in the week of 21 as of September 27 with respect to the data of the previous one.

In opposition, San Blas and Isabel II in Parla and Alicante and France in Fuenlabrada registered the largest increases, with an incidence more than 30% higher than that registered a week ago.

However, the incidence remains very high in all areas affected by restrictions.

Specifically, the areas that registered the most cases per inhabitant in the last week are Alicante and Cuzco in Fuenlabrada, where there are more than 1,600 cases per 100,000 residents.

They are followed by Puerta Bonita in Carabanchel, Pozo de Tío Raimundo, Peña Prieta and Entrevías in Puente de Vallecas and San Blas (Parla), all of them with more than 1,400 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last two weeks.

For their part, nine of the confined areas have an incidence below 1,000 cases per inhabitant, one of the three criteria that the Community of Madrid takes into account when establishing restrictions.

They are Daroca and García Noblejas in the Ciudad Lineal district, Orcasur, Orcasitas and San Fermín in Usera, Sánchez Morate in Getafe, Guayaba in Carabanchel, Federica Montseny in Puente de Vallecas and El Espinillo in Villaverde.

In up to 13 unrestricted areas the threshold of 1,000 cases per inhabitant is exceeded, among which the municipality of Villa del Prado stands out, with 1,336 infected per 100,000 residents in the last 14 days.

Apart from the restricted areas, the infection rate is higher today than a week ago at 170 out of 286. The cases have practically doubled in Algete, Torrelaguna and Villarejo de Salvanés, which already register incidents similar to those of the confined areas.

In Rascafría, the registered increase has been almost 150%, although the incidence stands at 379.36 infections per 100,000 inhabitants.
