The Satse Madrid nursing union has called an

indefinite strike

starting on October 7 for the

Madrid Public

Nursing, Specialized Nursing and Physiotherapy

that will affect primary care, hospital care, SUMMA 112 and public residences dependent on AMAS.

The call, presented last Friday, September 25, aims to "provide a solution to the

numerous problems that affect users

in the various care areas and that have not wanted to be solved for a long time," as reported by the union in a statement. .

In total,

almost 30,000 professionals

are called to the strike promoted by Satse Madrid

, "a strike that could not wait any longer, after years of rudeness by public administrations that repeatedly ignore the demands of Nursing and Physiotherapy professionals", has argued the labor union.

"With this strike we demand

a respect

that is denied us as professionals and that we stop mistreating the Madrilenians we serve," they have stressed from Satse Madrid.

"

We are fed up with supporting meager workforces

, being denied the possibility of reconciling, of not being able to take care of our children or of having to chain contracts (some of hours long) that prevent us from a minimum stability in employment no longer as professionals but also as people ", explained the general secretary of Satse Madrid, Teresa Galindo.

The union has indicated that they have always been open to negotiation and that they have "tried with greater intensity in recent months", to criticize that "only" they have received "good words" from the administration, and demand that

" they sit down to negotiate, really, without folds and thinking of the people of Madrid "

.

"NURSES AND ABANDONED CITIZENS"

Galindo has warned that "the current policy of the Community of Madrid has abandoned nurses and citizens", since it

"does not offer solutions" to "problems" such

as chronic patients, users who need care because they have hypertension, diabetes, asthma or who need daily care at home, has listed.

"We need health centers that work, that respond to our

chronic

patients and, also, to those who may suffer from Covid-19. We cannot allow thousands of Madrilenians to die simply because they are not treated or the care they take is delayed for days. They are claiming. Today many deaths are due to Covid, tomorrow they will be because their chronic diseases have not been treated as they should, "Galindo has warned.

The Secretary General of Satse has denounced "

workforces reduced to a minimum

, lack of job stability, the impossibility of having transparent job boards or the null creation of new jobs that translate into long waiting lists", as well as the

"abandonment" of "many" of their tasks

as professionals, such as chronic care or health education, which, in their opinion, translates into being "unable" to "offer quality care to Madrileños".

"The third wave of the Covid will arrive, sooner or later, and Madrid's health care is not prepared for it. If it arrives, it will catch us with unmotivated, tired nurses or who, simply, have left the profession or have gone to other regions where they are treated better. In the end, as always,

the citizens and not our political leaders will be the ones who will suffer,

"added Galindo.
