The Abu Dhabi Public Health Center announced the provision of the quadrivalent influenza vaccine, to reduce the incidence of influenza disease and its complications, while the Abu Dhabi Department of Health has identified 11 categories that are most important for taking the flu vaccine because they are most vulnerable to influenza complications and transmitting it to others.

In detail, the Abu Dhabi Public Health Center confirmed the provision of the seasonal influenza vaccine in the health facilities of the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) and Mubadala Health Care, as well as in some health facilities in the private sector, where the vaccination service and related services are provided free of charge to the beneficiaries in these facilities.

For its part, the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi explained that the influenza vaccine contains particles of influenza viruses (ineffective in causing disease), capable of preparing the body to provide immunity against influenza within a period of up to two weeks, as antibodies are formed to protect against the viruses that are in the vaccine, Noting that the seasonal influenza vaccine is updated annually to provide protection against common viruses that cause disease every year.

The department identified 11 categories that are considered the most important for taking vaccinations, including health care providers, children under five, pregnant women, pilgrims and Umrah performers, smokers, people aged 65 years and over, and people who receive treatments that may weaken the ability of the immune system such as radiotherapy or treatments Cancer, patients with damage or removal of the spleen, patients with HIV / AIDS, those receiving treatment for alcoholism, chronic disease conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, chronic lung disease (including asthma), chronic liver patients, and kidney patients.

The department attributed the importance of taking the vaccine to the difference in each influenza season from the other, and some have minor symptoms, others may enter the hospital, and some may die due to complications, and the infected can transmit the infection to others, whether they have symptoms or not.
