A new protest action took place in Minsk, dissatisfied with the results of the presidential elections in the republic.

This is the first Sunday demonstration after the inauguration of the head of state Alexander Lukashenko.

As RT correspondents note, the number of people who came to today's protest was lower than at previous Sunday rallies.

For example, Igor Zhdanov, who works in Minsk, said that a few protesters appeared at the "Minsk - Hero City" stela, which was designated as a gathering point.

"About 500, maybe, people are downstairs now, and this is just some penny compared to what it was three weeks ago," an RT correspondent said.

Konstantin Pridybailo, in turn, noted that the current protest action was announced as the “people's inauguration” of the ex-presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya.

Let us remind you that on September 23 the inauguration of the elected President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko took place.

“Polish Telegram channels called to go with portraits of Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, allegedly:“ Let's show that Sveta is our president. ”

But from my point of view, the posters are definitely not visible.

Moreover, it starts raining, "the RT correspondent said, also noting that the number of protesters is small.

According to RIA Novosti, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus addressed those gathered for a protest in the capital, warning about the illegality of this event and the possibility of using force by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The department also called on the protesters to "show prudence and disperse."

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, at least 200 people were detained on Sunday for participating in protest events.

As a result of the previous Saturday protest action, 150 people were detained, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic said earlier.

“In total, 150 citizens were detained yesterday for violating the legislation on mass events.

Before consideration in court of cases on administrative offenses, 116 were placed in places of detention of the detainees, ”reads a message published in the official Telegram channel of the department on Saturday.

We will remind, on August 9, presidential elections were held in Belarus.

The current head of state, Alexander Lukashenko, won them with 80.1% of voters.

After the publication of the preliminary results of the elections in Belarus, large-scale protests began.

The protesters demanded Lukashenka's resignation from the post of head of state and new elections.

The first demonstrations were accompanied by clashes between the protesters and the police, but later the actions began to take place more peacefully, and their numbers began to decline.

Meanwhile, in Belarus, they said that some of the western neighbors of the republic are trying to plunge it into chaos and throw it back in development.

This point of view was expressed the day before by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Vladimir Makei, speaking at the general political debate of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly (GA).

“After a failed attempt to impose a“ color revolution ”on us, we are experiencing external interference aimed at undermining the state system,” Makei quoted by TASS.

The head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry also spoke about the effect of sanctions against the republic, the possibility of which is being considered by a number of Western states.

According to him, such measures will have the opposite effect.

“We call on our partners to show wisdom, restraint and impartiality.

Interference in our internal affairs, sanctions or other restrictive measures against Belarus will have the opposite effect and be harmful to absolutely everyone.

We have already done this in the past, ”said the head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

He also clarified that statements from a number of western neighbors are attempts to plunge the country into chaos and anarchy, which will set Belarus back in its development for many years.

According to Vladimir Makei, the future of Belarus will be decided by its people through a civilized dialogue.

Note that French President Emmanuel Macron spoke about the situation in Belarus.

According to him, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko must voluntarily resign from his post.

“What is happening in Belarus is a crisis of power, moreover, an authoritarian power that cannot accept the logic of democracy and is held in place by force.

It is clear that Lukashenka must leave, ”the French president said in an interview with Le Journal du Dimanche newspaper.

In response, Lukashenka advised the French president to “look less around” and tackle internal problems.

The Belarusian leader also recalled the mass protests of the "yellow vests" and noted that Macron, according to the logic of the head of the Fifth Republic himself, should have resigned two years ago.
