Lens was joined at the very end of the match in Nîmes (1-1) on Sunday during the 5th day of L1, missing the opportunity to climb on the podium to which AS Monaco of Wissam Ben Yedder approached, yet reduced to nine against Strasbourg (3-2).

After three successes in a row, Montpellier avoided the worst in the poorly classified Dijon (2-2), with an equalizer from Téji Savanier in the last moments on the penalty spot.

The Héraultais are third, behind Lille and the leader Rennes.

Earlier in the afternoon, Nice left empty-handed and with "a lot of regrets", according to Vieira, from Bordeaux (0-0), where the Aiglons hit three times the amounts of Benoît Costil.

The disappointment of the Niçois is at the height of that of the promoted Lensois, very close to a fourth consecutive victory but whose virtuous series was broken on a late goal from Zinedine Ferhat (87th).

The Sang et Or did not manage to hold the rather early opener of their summer rookie Ignatius Ganago, author of his fourth goal since the start of the championship.

The 21-year-old Cameroonian center-forward, flourishing since his arrival from Nice, opportunistically took over a center from Gaël Kakuta (34th), but that was not enough.

- Monaco reduced to nine -

Ligue 1 found another striker in form with Ben Yedder, formidable efficiency against Strasbourg.

After a first goal in Rennes (2-1 defeat) last weekend, the co-top scorer of the 2019/20 season with Kylian Mbappé opened his counter to Louis-II with a double (9th, 53rd) who allows Monaco, reduced to nine in the second half, to calmly approach their next trip to Brest.

Niko Kovac's men are fifth in L1 tied on points with Lens (6th), Saint-Etienne (4th) and Montpellier (3rd).

The Héraultais missed the opportunity to chain a fourth victory in a row, despite a new goal from Andy Delort (50th) from the head to the reception of a center from Gaëtan Laborde.

In front, there was Eric Dina Ebimde (8th) and Bruno Ecuele Manga (60th).

If Montpellier can feed some frustration, that of Nice will probably be even greater after their unfortunate trip to Bordeaux.

The Girondins have honored their status as the best defense in the championship, but for this they have been well helped by the amounts of Benoît Costil who rejected attempts by Pierre Lees-Melou (30th), Rony Lopes (65th) and Amine Gouiri (90th).

Bordeaux "played, we defended well, we were solid, we respected the game plan we had," said coach Jean-Louis Gasset, more polished than his counterpart of the day.

Nice can have "a lot of regrets because we did not manage to score this goal despite all these opportunities", commented Patrick Vieira, "satisfied" nevertheless with the content offered by his players.

The Aiglons are in ninth place, one point behind Marseille.
