A year after the death of his father, Claude Chirac confided in an interview with BFMTV.

The daughter of the former President of the Republic Jacques Chirac then put forward the hypothesis of a political commitment in Corrèze, the stronghold of her family, and judged in passing inconceivable the absence of a candidate "of the republican right. In the presidential election of 2022.

"I would be very happy to get involved in Corrèze, in what form, honestly, I don't know yet", declared the president of the Fondation Chirac, aged 57.

Asked about the hypothesis of a candidacy on the occasion of the next departmental elections, Claude Chirac declared "to think about it": "I can not say neither yes, nor no, I think about it".

Jacques Chirac was for several decades the political face of this rural department, located on the fringes of the Massif Central.

Among other mandates, he was president of the general council from 1970 to 1979 and served as deputy for the former third constituency of Corrèze for 16 years, over four decades.

Claude Chirac's mother, Bernadette, is not to be outdone since she held a position of general counsel for the department for 36 years.
