The Dubai Nationality and Residency Prosecution encouraged families who escaped from maids or support workers to ensure that they obtain compensation of 10 thousand dirhams in the event that the concerned authorities are notified within a period not exceeding 10 days from the escape, and after the escaping workers are caught by another person.

The Chief Prosecutor of the Nationality and Residency Prosecution in Dubai, Faisal Ahali, said during a seminar organized by the Community Development Authority remotely to introduce the Nationality and Residency Law, that many families and individuals neglect to inform the concerned authorities about the escape of support workers despite the importance of this procedure from the legal point of view, and the possibility of compensating them for part Among the losses they suffered through the escape of that worker after spending on the process of bringing her and registering her on their sponsorship, pointing out that families often do not know that they can get 10 thousand dirhams as compensation if the fugitive maid registered on her sponsorship is caught working for another person, and she has taken the initiative to report .

He explained that the amount of compensation awarded to obligated families who report is deducted from the amount of the fine decided at 50 thousand dirhams, which is imposed on families or persons who employ maids or workers without their sponsorship.

My family revealed that in return, the person who does not report the escape of the support workers who is under his sponsorship bears a fine of 50 thousand dirhams, so instead of compensating him for his losses, this large fine is added to it, pointing out that many families fall into this error, whether due to lack of awareness, or Laziness and forgetfulness, or reliance on domestic employment agencies that do not comply with their role for one reason or another.

He reported that a maid escaped from the house of a citizen, and due to his work conditions that require him to be present in foreign missions, her escape was not reported for a whole year until she was caught working for another person, so the citizen was contacted and fined 50 thousand dirhams for failure to report, indicating that the law is characterized by Flexibility and allows any person related to the sponsor to inform the competent authorities instead of the escape of the support workers until any justifications for non-compliance are dropped, and the reporting process is completely uncomplicated and can be done by phone at (8005111).

My family said that the Nationality and Residency Prosecution launched the “Awadni” initiative to encourage reporting of the escaped support workers, pointing out that many people were surprised to call to obtain compensation of 10 thousand dirhams after the escaping workers were caught working for others.

He added that it is necessary in the event of canceling the residency of any of the support workers, or returning them to the employment offices of those groups, to follow up on what happens to the maid who returned her to the office, and if she moves to work with another family, it must be ensured that her sponsorship is transferred to her because some offices are neglected in this procedure. The first sponsor bears a fine of 50 thousand dirhams, as she is deemed to be working for others without informing him of that.

He pointed out that some sponsors do not cancel the residency of the support group registered on them despite their work for others, due to laziness or lack of knowledge, which exposes them to a fine, such as a citizen who has a commercial enterprise who was subjected to a fine of 100,000 dirhams because two of his employees work for another person, and it was found that he is not responsible. They are aware of this, but they do so with the knowledge of an Asian manager who is in charge of the work of this citizen, pointing out that many Emiratis make this mistake.

A fine for a family who did not follow her maid

The First Prosecutor for the Nationality and Residency Prosecution in Dubai, Faisal Ahli, said that a family brought a maid to work under her sponsorship, and then returned her for her incompetence to the employment office after a period of her use, but she did not follow up on what happened, and after two years she discovered that she works for a family but is still under sponsorship The first family was fined 50 thousand dirhams.

The compensation shall be deducted from the fine of persons who hired maids or workers without their sponsorship.

Compensation comes in the case of notification within 10 days of the escape and after the runaway workers are caught with another person.
