-Finally we have bought the right tram!

says Kent Lindahl tram driver.

He really lights up when he talks about the new tram.

- The only problem I can think of is that the drivers may not want to leave the car ...

Talking about the tram issue in Gothenburg is infected.

The old wagons from the 60s and 70s were to be phased out after 30 years, but have been allowed to drive for over 50 years.

The Italian wagons were not a successful deal.

They squeaked and rusted and the trips to get them back on track became many and long.

But now Gothenburgers can start riding with Västtrafik's new tram from Germany / Austria, model M33.

A carriage that will primarily replace the oldest carriages.

40 are bought in to begin with and if the test rides fall to satisfaction, and if the economy holds, another 60 carriages are bought in.

Satisfied chairman

- These new carriages are fresher, more accessible and have more space.

Soon we will hopefully have even more carriages in place and it will be a big and necessary boost for tram traffic in Gothenburg, says Peter Hermansson (M), Chairman of the Board, Västtrafik.

Västtrafik and Göteborgs Spårvägar expect that the delivery of all trams will be completed in 2022. In addition, the agreement provides the opportunity to purchase another 60 trams.

This includes the possibility to order 45 meter long trams.

A feature is that 10 carriages of the carriages that may be purchased can open their doors in both directions, which facilitates traffic diversions.
