This is the penalty received by a 22-year-old volunteer firefighter on Monday in Sarthe.

The young man with a clean criminal record was tried by the court in Le Mans for having lit five vegetation fires, including one near a Seveso factory, reports

Some facts took place this summer around the Precigné rescue center, where he worked.

Others date back to 2017.

Prohibited from practicing for five years

According to the newspaper, investigators were able to trace back to the young firefighter (who also intervened to put out his own fires) after the gendarmes geolocated his vehicle, in which matches were hidden.

The young man, whose lawyer spoke of personal problems and impulses, was also banned from working as a firefighter for five years.
