Bahrain's Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that support for peace with Israel strengthens the foundation of security, stability and prosperity in the region.

According to the Bahrain News Agency, the statement came in a public phone call between the two sides, the first since Bahrain announced the normalization of relations with Israel.

During the call, they reviewed "areas of bilateral cooperation within the framework of the declaration of support for peace between the two countries, and a number of developments on the regional and international arenas."

Bahrain became the second Arab country within a month to announce an agreement to normalize relations with Israel, after the United Arab Emirates reached a similar agreement.

Last Friday, Bahrain witnessed sporadic small demonstrations to denounce the country’s signing of the aforementioned agreement.
