Prince Khalid bin Salman, Deputy Minister of Defense of Saudi Arabia, said today that his country is seeking "with the advocates of peace in Yemen to reach a comprehensive and lasting peace," on the occasion of the International Day of Peace.

Prince Khaled added in a tweet on his Twitter account that achieving a comprehensive and lasting peace in Yemen is through "the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement, and the integration of efforts with the UN envoy to make his proposal on the joint declaration to end the crisis and the return of Yemen to its Gulf and Arab surroundings."

And Riyadh sponsored the signing of the Riyadh Agreement on November 5 between the Yemeni government and the UAE-backed Transitional Council, after the council’s forces expelled the internationally recognized government from the interim capital, Aden.

On the # International Day of Peace, we look forward to the world enjoying peace in its parts, and we strive with the peace advocates and our brothers in Yemen to reach a comprehensive and lasting peace through the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement and the integration of efforts with the UN envoy for the success of his proposal (the joint declaration) to end the crisis and return Yemen to its Gulf and Arab surroundings.

At the end of last July, the Saudi-Emirati coalition announced a mechanism to accelerate the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement, including the transitional council’s abandonment of the Autonomous Administration, the formation of a government of equal competencies between the north and the south, the departure of the military forces from Aden, and the separation of the forces of the two parties in Abyan Governorate (the south of the country).

Yesterday, on the occasion of the International Day of Peace, the United Nations envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, called on the parties to the Yemeni crisis "to take a step towards achieving comprehensive peace in this country." He added, "I tell the warring parties on this day, I hope you think, find the necessary courage, and take the step." The first is towards giving Yemenis the peace they need and deserve, so let us work together urgently to end this conflict completely. "

It should be noted that Saudi Arabia led a military alliance that includes Arab and Islamic countries.
