Putin urged the UN Security Council to take fuller account of the interests of all countries

He stated this within the framework of a speech at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly.

“The ongoing changes, of course, have an impact on the main body of the UN - the Security Council, on the discussion around approaches to its reform.

Our logic is that the Security Council should take into account more fully the interests of all countries, all the diversity of their positions, based on the principle of the broadest possible consent of states, ”the Kremlin press service quotes him.

At the same time, the head of Russia added that the UN Security Council should continue to serve as a key link in the global governance system.

The Russian president also noted that the veto of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council is working and is necessary.

“The right of the five nuclear powers, victors in World War II, and today reflects a real military-political balance,” he stressed.

Earlier, in his video message, Putin offered to provide the Russian vaccine against coronavirus infection COVID-19 to UN employees.
