Kono Administrative Reform Minister To break down the vertical division To review and consider the relationship between the national and local governments September 23, 4:25

In order to break down the vertically divided administration set by Prime Minister Suga, Minister Kono will consider reviewing not only between central government ministries but also the relationship between the national and local governments.

In an attempt to solicit information on the harmful effects of vertically divided administration, Minister Kono, who was in charge of administrative reform, set up an "administrative reform guideline box" on his website on September 17, but received opinions far exceeding expectations. Since then, we have stopped accepting applications in less than a day.

Minister Kono wants to identify the specific harmful effects of vertical division and points to be reviewed regarding the administration of central ministries and agencies, while carefully examining the information received.

On the other hand, some of the information received pointed out the state and local government administration, such as "It was difficult to understand whether the jurisdiction was the national or local government." ..

For this reason, Minister Kono plans to consider not only the issue of vertically divided administration between central ministries and agencies, but also the relationship between the national and local governments, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
