The US president intends to announce on Friday or Saturday the name of the judge he will choose to succeed Ruth Baden Ginsberg at the Supreme Court.
A nomination strongly denounced by the Democrats, but the leader of the Republican majority in the Senate has confirmed that he intends to organize a confirmation vote as soon as possible.

The judicial world is in mourning for a giant,
" began Mitch McConnell before paying tribute to the progressive judge.
But very quickly the leader of the Republican majority returned to politics.

In 2018, voters increased our majority on our commitment to continue working with President Trump, especially on exceptional judicial appointments.
We will keep our word, we will vote on this nomination.
"

Democrats
have no way to oppose the process.
It is therefore by playing on the moral aspect that the leader of the Democratic minority tries to influence the Republican senators.

Judge Ginsberg told her family that her dearest wish was not to be replaced until the next president is invested,"
said Chuck Shumer.
There is only one way for this assembly to retain its dignity at the end of this difficult chapter.

Two Republican senators have already announced their intention to vote against the appointment of a Supreme Court judge ahead of the elections.
