Egypt discovers 27 coffins dating back more than 2,500 years

The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said that archaeologists have discovered 27 wooden coffins in the archaeological area of ​​Saqqara, a burial area that also includes one of the oldest pyramids in the world.

The wooden coffins, painted with colorful decorations and covered with hieroglyphs, were found stacked in two burial wells, the ministry added in a statement. 

The ministry continued, saying that the coffins had not yet been opened.

It is noteworthy that Saqqara is a World Heritage Site of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
