Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune said today, Sunday, that Algeria will not be blessed and will not participate in what he called "the scramble towards normalization."

In a television interview broadcast on state television, Tebboune added that for the Algerian people, the Palestinian issue is a "sacred cause" and "the mother of issues."

The Algerian president stressed that the Palestinian issue can only be resolved through the establishment of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, stressing that "the key to the Middle East is resolving the Palestinian issue."

For its part, "Hamas" movement appreciated the position of the Algerian president on the Palestinian issue. A prominent leader in the movement, Sami Abu Zuhri, said, "We value in Hamas the statements of the Algerian president about his categorical rejection of normalization with the occupation, and his adherence to support the Palestinian cause."

Abu Zuhri added, "This is an expression of the authenticity of the Algerian position on the Palestinian issue."

Tebboune’s statements are the first official reaction from Algeria regarding the UAE and Bahrain signing of two normalization agreements with Israel on September 15 at the White House, under US sponsorship.
