Four Venezuelan soldiers killed

, three seriously injured and an unknown number of Colombian guerrillas killed is the balance of an astonishing confrontation on the border, in the state of Apure.

Unofficial sources informed local media

that casualties in the irregular group have risen to 15

.

The guerrillas of the FARC dissidents and the National Liberation Army (ELN) are known allies of the Bolivarian revolution.

It was

a small pitched battle, with bursts and overflight of aircraft

that ended the lives of two lieutenants and two sergeants and left many questions.

Local media MCC Noticias even claimed that the Russian military used drones in the operation.

It would be the same Russian contingent that participated in the hunt and capture of the

rebel military that landed on the coast near Caracas

during Operation Gideon, last June.

The main unknown left by the massacre is the reason for a confrontation between recognized allies.

One of the explanations is that the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) deployed its men to capture alias Ferley González, head of the Tenth Front of the FARC dissidents,

but that he is at odds with Iván Márquez and Jesús Santrich

, the rebel commanders that Caracas shelters and supports.

Ferley, a dissident of the dissidents, is accused of kidnapping in the Colombian Arauca to hide his victims in Venezuelan territory.

Uribista senator Paola Holguín

confirmed yesterday the 19 fatalities and denounced the pact between Santrich and Márquez

to end the power of Gentil Duarte, another dissident FARC commander very strong in Arauca.

Last June, Juan Guillermo Zuluaga, the Colombian governor of Meta, publicly aired the war within the dissent, with drug trafficking as a backdrop.

"Armed clashes on the Venezuelan border never occur to restore order or protect national sovereignty," protested Javier Tarazona, director of Fundaredes.

"They have handed over our territory for illegal activities," added Tarazona,

who for years has denounced the collusion between the Chavista military and the Colombian guerrillas

to handle the smuggling of fuel, food and the military, as well as drug trafficking.

The Apure border is a territory in constant dispute, with an important presence of the ELN.

According to Tarazona, the coexistence agreement between the two guerrillas, with the approval of the Bolivarian government and the FANB, has been broken in recent days.
