It was Helsingborgs Dagblad that in February was the first to report on the training methods in Helsingborg City FC.

The football club that elite bets from childhood.

This means, among other things, that children who do not keep the measure are denied to train and play matches in the club and that high demands are placed on discipline both on and off the football field.

- We want to find the joy of development and not the joy of play and trampling, says David Thulin, chairman of Helsingborg City FC.

Threatened with withdrawal of contribution

The club receives an annual grant from the City of Helsingborg of SEK 14,000.

When the school and leisure administration was made aware of the club's methods at the beginning of the year, it risked losing the grant.

- It is about meeting the requirements we set for sports associations and grants.

They can run the club as they have done, but then it cannot receive a grant, says Daniel Nilsson, head of the school and leisure administration.

Among other things, the club should not select players according to talent and have less focus on discipline training.

The club's leaders will also attend training in sports pedagogy.

Stands up for its methods

David Thulin believes that parents and teachers have said that they see clear results from the club's training methods even off the field, where the children behave more responsibly.

He is therefore not satisfied with the requirements set by the city for the grant.

- I think it's very boring.

I do not think politicians should go in and say what is right and wrong for the children, but the clubs should do it together with the parents and children.

So it's reluctant you agree to this?

- Yes, I must say, I would have liked to continue as we do.
