It was on 10 September that Finland decided to ease its travel restrictions for travel from Sweden.

At the time, the message was that the country allows people from countries with less than 25 infected per 100,000 inhabitants to enter the country freely.

- Finland has had some of the absolute toughest rules.

As the corona situation in Europe has deteriorated, in the end only the Latvians were welcome in Finland.

So then they raised the limit, says Hasse Svens in Helgstudion.

He continues:

- First and foremost, it is for financial reasons, of course.

But there have been divided opinions, when the new law was passed, there were two ministers who in protest refused to participate, says SVT's correspondent Hasse Svens in Helgstudion.

"Can be a short opening"

During weeks 35 and 36, the figure above the number of infections per 100,000 inhabitants in Sweden was 25. Since then, however, it has increased.

According to the Swedish Public Health Agency's latest weekly report, published on 18 September, the total figure during weeks 36 and 37 was 28 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

The Finnish authorities have previously announced that new decisions will be made on which countries will be given the green light to travel into the country on an ongoing basis.

- It can be a very short opening.

On Thursday, the government will meet again and make a poll on what it looks like, says Hasse Svens.
