The Chinese Communist Party has demonstrated that it intends to use these applications to threaten national security

," said the Commerce Department in the statement, which announced the implementation of the restriction measures.

From midnight Sunday evening, financial transactions in the United States can no longer be carried out via the WeChat application.

Payments made from abroad will still be allowed for US companies.

TikTok

can be used without restriction until November 12, but downloading the application and its updates will be impossible from Sunday evening.

The online video application has been suspended to give a chance to the ongoing negotiations on the takeover of the company's activities in the United States by an American group.

TikTok has 100 million users nationwide.
