Penitentiary Institutions will

shortly transfer

five members of the terrorist gang ETA to prisons near the Basque Country

, an ongoing claim by EH Bildu that its leader

Arnaldo Otegi

has underlined since the suicide of

Igor González

in the Martutene prison.

Among the transfers planned by the Ministry led by Fernando Grande-Marlaska is that of

Lierni Armendariz

, one of the three members of the command that assassinated the Minister of Health and leader of the PSC

Ernest Lluch

in Barcelona

on November 21, 2001. Jesús Arcauz 'Josu de Mondragón' convicted of several attacks and in charge of supplying explosive material to the ETA commandos when he was on the run in the south of France will also be brought to a prison near Euskadi.

Gorka Loran

was convicted of placing a suitcase bomb in a Renfe convoy that was supposed to explode when it reached the Chamartín station in Madrid.

The transfers reported by Penitentiary Institutions are those of

Juan Carlos Herrador

and Lierni Armendaritz to El Dueso,

Unai Fano

to Bilbao,

Jesús Arcauz

to Valladolid and

Gorka Loran

to the Dueñas prison in Palencia.

Armendariz and Arcauz are the ETA prisoners with the longest sentences (30 years in prison) for their criminal record with sentences that link them to murders.

The decision to transfer these five prisoners comes in the same week in which Vice President

Pablo Iglesias

met with a delegation from EH Bildu led by his spokesperson in Congress

Mertxe Aizpurua

and days before the meeting that Aizpurua will hold with Vice President

Carmen Bald

.

Two appointments that are part of the negotiation of the General State Budgets for 2021. Minister

Fernando Grande-Marlaska

assured in Congress, questioned by EH Bildu, that the Government of Pedro Sánchez has brought or changed prison status to 90 prisoners from ETA since 2018.

Jesús Arcauz, "Josu de Mondragón", was arrested in France in 1991 and after serving a sentence in that country he was handed over to Spain, where he entered prison in January 1997 and the sentence imposed by the Justice included five crimes of homicide in the degree of frustration, attack, and havoc and had a total of

83 years in jail

but with a 30-year compliance limit.

Arcauz served three-quarters of the sentence in 2015 and will be transferred to Valladolid at the proposal of the Treatment Board of the Murcia prison.

Lierni Armendáriz was arrested in 2001 by the Barcelona Local Police when she was traveling with

José Ignacio Krutxaga

in a vehicle loaded with explosives.

Krutxaba carried the pistol with which Ernest Lluch was assassinated and the judges ruled that the two together with the third member of the 'Barcelona command'

Fernando García Jodrá

participated in the crime.

Armendariz was in charge of carrying

out surveillance tasks

while her two companions perpetrated the crime.

Gorka Loran, who will be transferred from Algeciras to Dueñas (Palencia), is serving a 20-year sentence for collaboration with

an armed gang, attempted murder and depositing weapons

.

He was arrested for the placement, on Christmas Eve 2003, of a

suitcase bomb in the Intercity Irún-Madrid

with the intention that it exploded in the Chamartín station, although the Police deactivated the bomb in the Burgos station.

In December 2018, he served three-quarters of his sentence and, according to Prisons, he accepts prison law, for which reason the General Secretariat has agreed to progress him to second degree and, at the proposal of the Treatment Board of the Cadiz prison, transfer him to Dueñas.

Juan Carlos Herrador, a member of the Donosti command that was dismantled in 2007, was sentenced in 2009 to 19 years in prison for the crimes of

belonging to an armed gang and deposits of explosives

.

When the command was dismantled, it had information on possible political and security force objectives, although it had no concrete plans or orders to attack immediately.

He will serve three-quarters of the sentence in June 2021 and has accepted prison law, for which he will be transferred from Ocaña I (Toledo) to El Dueso.

The fifth ETA prisoner transferred, in this case from the Soria prison to Bilbao, is Unai Fano Aldasoro, arrested in France in 2008 and sentenced to 20 years in prison for the crimes of

belonging to ETA and possession of weapons and explosive components , robbery and theft

.

He was part of a command of the gang that was discovered by a neighbor of the Loire region.

He was arrested along with another ETA member inside a tent.

Prisons, Unai Fano, who remains in second degree, will serve three-quarters of the sentence in September 2023 and has already acknowledged in writing the damage caused.

After learning about these approaches, the

Association of Victims of Terrorism

has denounced that it is creating nuclei of ETA in some prisons, some with crimes of blood.

The AVT regrets that for some time now it has become a

"tradition" that every Friday

Prisons agree to transfers and that the same ETA prisoners with blood crimes and that many of them go to the same jails.

Thus, it denounces that

13 prisoners have been transferred to Logroño

, while the prisons of Zaragoza, Asturias and Soria have been transferred 9 and 7 respectively, reports Efe.

The association, which describes as

"devastating" the balance of transfers

, a total of 68, of which 11 have crimes of blood, wonders if in the meeting of the second vice president of the Government, Pablo Iglesias with EH Bildu to talk about the budgets a "massive" approach was negotiated.
