The corrugated cardboard that covered the large windows facing the plate and Sergels torg was eagerly torn down during Friday.

After a year and a half of renovation, Stockholmers and tourists were once again welcomed into Kulturhuset.

- Culture has a more important role than ever in these times.

You should be happy, provoked and challenged, said Jesper Larsson, CEO of Kulturhuset Stadsteatern during Friday's inauguration.

The schedule held and money remained in the wallet

The renovation, which has been going on for 18 months, has primarily involved a technical refurbishment of the property.

But visitors will also be greeted by a new visitor center, new signage, and restored art.

During Friday's inauguration, Stockholm City's real estate councilor Dennis Wedin (M) was extra happy that the schedule for the renovation could be kept.

- We also have 90 million left in the budget.

It's worth celebrating.

Now we are looking at how we can develop the culture even more because we have room in the budget, said Dennis Wedin (M).
