Announcing the "Protocol for Organizing Social Events"

The Ministry of Health and Community Protection and the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority announced a protocol for organizing social events in light of the spread of the "Covid-19" virus.

The protocol aims to ensure the application of the highest standards of prevention, and the recommended procedures of health authorities in the country.

The protocol set a number of controls when establishing the marriage contract and other family events, the content of which is that attendance is restricted to first-degree relatives of the two families, provided that the total number of attendees does not exceed 10 persons.

It is preferable to conduct a medical examination 24 hours before the occasion, and it is forbidden to hold a buffet, and it is preferable to use single-use utensils and cups for eating and drinking, and to constantly disinfect surfaces and facilities, and provide disinfectants.

The Ministry and the Authority stressed the commitment to preventive measures, and the need to apply them on occasions, and confirmed that the concerned authorities will be committed to monitoring social events, and violating those who do not abide by them.

The measures include social distancing, leaving a distance between each person of no less than two meters, monitoring symptoms by warning not to attend in case of experiencing respiratory symptoms or fever, and preparing an isolation room in the event of a suspected case of infection (Covid-19).

The preventive measures also include raising awareness of the methods of spreading the disease, washing hands, the etiquette of sneezing and coughing, in addition to urging people with chronic diseases and the elderly not to attend the event.

In the protocol, the Ministry and the Commission touched on the preventive measures recommended in funerals and prayers for them.

They focused on the necessity to wear masks for workers in cemeteries, to disinfect the tools used before and after the completion of the burial of the deceased, and to commit to washing hands periodically.

In the absence of water, it is possible to rely on approved disinfectants, containing no less than 60 - 80% of alcohol.

The procedures in the funeral processions include not exceeding 10 people, reducing the number of people responsible for digging to two, and reducing the number of funeral bearers to between four and eight people.

Workers in the cemetery must also disclose any respiratory symptoms and avoid attending the funeral, in addition to publishing awareness posters related to "Covid-19" at the cemetery gate, and educating relatives of the deceased about the preventive measures.

The Ministry and the Commission pointed out the necessity of the presence of supervisors from the competent authorities to ensure that health requirements are not violated in the cemeteries, and the presence of security personnel to prevent overcrowding, and to prevent exceeding the number of attendees scheduled.

One of the controls of the marriage contract is that the total number of attendees should not exceed 10 persons.
