The number of tourists visiting the mountains to hike or fish, for example, is increasing.

With the growing mountain tourism comes not only benefits.

- Outdoor life is increasing and with it also comes ignorance, says Stefan Hamréus who is a supervisor at the County Administrative Board in Dalarna.

He works in Grövelsjön, within the Långfjället nature reserve.

- I have met people who are out hiking in slippers and are completely exhausted, of course.

They do not know how to dress, what equipment is required or how to behave when you are out in the mountains, Hamréus continues.

"Poop at joints and leaves liters of alcohol"

He says that he sees both lots of litter, which hikers throw along the trails, and lots of rubbish that is left at places where people have taken by helicopter with lots of packing, and which they then only leave when the stay is over.

- The litter can be canned food that you just let lie or that you poop two meters from the trail and leave toilet paper lying.

The bulk waste is, for example, liters of alcohol, food, boots that are left behind.

You bring things you don't really need - you simply overconsume.

Gets affected

- It's almost hard to talk about.

There are those who behave completely exemplary, but then there are a bunch of people who do not behave and do not know how to behave and we can not look past it, says Stefan Hamréus.

On Tuesday, several different actors in the mountain world gather in Idre to discuss proposals on how to solve the problems.
