Wall Street opened higher on Tuesday, in position for a second day of rebound pending the start of a Fed monetary meeting and an announcement from Apple.

Around 1:50 p.m. GMT, its flagship index, the Dow Jones Industrial Average, rose 0.46% to 28,123.24 points.

The Nasdaq, with strong technological coloring, appreciated by 1.41% to 11,212.87 points.

The extended S&P 500 index gained 0.86% to 3,412.8 points.

"The shares were trading higher early in the session, seeking to extend the good start to the week after the string of losses the week before," analysts Charles Schwab said in a note.

"Progress on the Covid-19 vaccine and treatment front and a flood of merger activity supported yesterday's hike. However, the budget stalemate continues and the Fed must begin its policy meeting monetary ", they specified.

The US Central Bank (Fed) was due to start a two-day monetary meeting on Tuesday.

It has already hinted that it does not intend to touch its key rates, which have been in a range between 0% and 0.25% since March.

On the front of the fight against the pandemic, China mentioned Tuesday a potential vaccine for the general public for November.

The AstraZeneca laboratory (+ 2.80% at the start of the session) had told him last weekend to resume his clinical trials.

In the United States, rather comforting indicators contributed to moderate optimism.

Manufacturing activity in the New York region rebounded significantly in September, a sign of a clear improvement in the economy in this major industrial region and economic capital of the country.

The index rose to 17 points against 5.9 expected by analysts.

Industrial production in August rose 0.4%, less than expected but up for the fourth month in a row.

Apple, which is preparing to present new products and services Tuesday from its Californian headquarters, was up 2.34%.

Tesla, which had recorded its biggest drop on the stock market last week, climbed 4.47% after rising 12.58% the day before.

On the bond market, the 10-year rate on US debt rose to 0.6772% against 0.6723% the night before.
