While the "yellow vests" demonstrate this Saturday in Paris, an important police device has been implemented to protect the Champs-Elysées.

Many traders have preferred to lower the curtain for the day and evoke a "generalized fed up".

At 1 pm, the police counted 154 arrests.

The "yellow vests" parade this Saturday in Paris, to try to breathe new life into the movement.

Place de la Bourse, some 200 demonstrators were already at the rendezvous in the morning while a second procession is scheduled for Place Wagram, in the west of the capital, at 1 p.m.

"There can be no chaos on the Champs Elysees" has already warned the prefect of police Didier Lallement.

For fear, the traders of "the most beautiful avenue in the world" have already lowered the curtain.

Shops closed on the Champs-Elysées

At midday, some were still screwing iron plates or wooden planks to protect their windows.

On the avenue, almost all of the shops are closed.

During previous demonstrations, looting and destruction of shop windows had taken place on the sidelines of the parades.

The traders evoke a generalized fed-up.

In the streets around the Champs-Elysées, around half of the businesses wanted to open their doors.

"Today, we are trying to relaunch our activity despite the 'yellow vests'", explains Charlie, who runs a clothing store.

"We have to fight because we have been so affected economically, the Covid has had a big impact for us who are in a very commercial street and in a very touristy area."

In the morning, a few customers still responded.

"I had no worries about coming to the neighborhood this morning because nothing ever happens in the morning, but I wouldn't have come at the end of the afternoon," says Anne, who came with her husband to buy a costume.

"I dare not imagine that there are so many irresponsible gathered but we can fear the worst anyway."

The images of violence punctuated by previous mobilizations are in everyone's memory.

154 arrests at 1 p.m.

The bottom of the avenue is completely cordoned off and a large police force has been put in place.

Only access via the Arc de Triomphe is open.

The police carry out checks and search the bags, sometimes with the discovery of weapons by destination such as hammers or iron bars.
