Every time I go out, I will carry the battle flag (to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People’s Volunteers’ going abroad to fight against the US and aid Korea)

In mid-August, the aircraft group roared in the depths of the Gobi Desert, and a combat exercise by a certain brigade of the paratroopers began at the foot of Kunlun Mountain.

A famous paratrooper, pieces of combat materials, and heavy equipment fell from the sky, and parasols bloomed in the sky.

After the airborne landing, as an assault force, the officers and soldiers of the "Shangganling Special Service Eighth Company" of the brigade carried forward the spirit of Shangganling. They were not afraid of the dangers of the subjects, and overcame the adverse effects of low pressure and hypoxia, high cold and strong winds. They drove the airborne tanks to fight with artillery, reconnaissance, The forces of industrial and chemical industries and other arms cooperated closely to successfully capture the target, and the battle flag was flying high again!

On the battle flag, the 7 characters of "Shangganling Special Kungfu Eighth Lian" are powerful.

This was another victory for the officers and soldiers of the Eighth Company.

And 68 years ago, the victory gene and iron-blooded fighting spirit were tested and demonstrated.

On October 14, 1952, the US military launched a fierce attack on the Shangganling area.

In an area with a total area of only 3.7 square kilometers, the enemy has invested more than 60,000 people front and back, mobilized more than 300 long-range artillery pieces of 105 caliber, more than 100 tanks, more than 3,000 aircraft sorties, and launched more than 900 large and small attacks.

In 43 days, more than 1.7 million shells were fired and more than 10,000 bombs were dropped. The bombs cut down the main peak of Shangganling by 2 meters.

At the beginning of the battle, the battle was unprecedentedly fierce, and the two sides fought repeatedly around the position.

On the evening of October 17, the 8th Battalion, 3rd Battalion, 134th Regiment, 45th Division of the 15th Army of the Chinese People's Volunteers joined the counterattack 597.9 Highland mission, entered the main position No. 1 tunnel, and began the heroic feat of holding the tunnel 14 days and nights.

During the battle, the enemy not only used all means to destroy the tunnels, but also imposed a tight artillery blockade on the lines of communication between the tunnel troops and the rear, making the tunnel troops exhausted.

Facing the indiscriminate bombardment of enemy artillery and the extremely harsh environment, the officers and soldiers of the Eighth Company had firm beliefs and strong will. Inspired by revolutionary heroism, everyone went through the waters and saw death, taking turns flowing into the pit to fight the enemy to the death with flesh and blood. Fighting for 43 days and holding the tunnel for 14 days and nights, the battle flag with 381 bullet holes finally flew on the main peak of Shangganling.

Eight Company became famous in the first battle.

The Eighth Company was awarded the "Brave and Tenacious, Outstanding Meritorious" pennant by the Third Corps of the Volunteer Army, and was awarded the collective special class.

Since then, they have had a hero's name-"Shangganling Special Kungfu Eighth Company".

Also because of that war, Shangganling is still one of the important landmarks discussed in the world military field so far.

In the 68 years since the victory of the Battle of Shangganling, the battle flag full of 381 bullet holes has watched every time the officers and soldiers of the Eighth Company went out and witnessed the growth and transformation of this company along the way.

In 1961, Air Force Commander Liu Yalou repeatedly selected from three field armies with outstanding military merits, and finally selected the 15th Army of the Army, which returned from the Korean battlefield, and transformed it into the 15th Army of the Airborne Corps.

Subsequently, the Eighth Company was officially incorporated into the airborne troops.

The blood is inherited, and the salary is passed down.

Over the years, under the leadership of the Zhanqi, the officers and soldiers of the Eighth Company have inherited and carried forward the company spirit of "only blowing the charge, not retreating", and have been the vanguard and the forefront in the transformation and construction of the army. This has enabled the company to maintain its advanced status for decades. A business card for the grassroots construction of airborne troops.

Every time, the officers and soldiers of the Eighth Company felt that the martyrs had "never gone far" when swearing to the battle flag.

Instructor Zhu Huafeng said that over the years, Zhanqi has produced one side after another.

Whether it is participating in major exercises or performing urgent, difficult, dangerous and heavy tasks, the company will carry a battle flag on the expedition. No matter what difficulties and challenges are encountered, all officers and soldiers of the company must perform their tasks well every time.

"This is a continuous inheritance of the Shangganling spirit." Yao Hengwen, political commissar of the Eighth Company's brigade, said that the battle flag not only inspired generations of the Eighth Company's officers and soldiers to fight bravely, but also recorded that the Eighth Company's combat effectiveness has reached one level after another.

The majestic wind is still in the red, and the battle will be won after all attempts.

Entering the new era, as the first batch of eighth company officers and soldiers of the airborne infantry company, inheriting the spirit of Shangganling, focusing on the problems of combat power transformation, making breakthroughs in improving command methods, optimizing combat composition, supporting force utilization, and training of professional talents. It has successively completed many major tasks such as the National Day military parade, international military competitions, and international joint exercises and training. Combat strength building has always been in the forefront of airborne troops and has become a sharp edge in joint operations.
