Abu Dhabi Police warned drivers not to delay paying the fines for their traffic offenses, as the vehicle is seized if the total value reaches 7000 dirhams, and the violating driver is obligated to pay in full so that he can release the reservation, pointing to the accumulation of traffic violations on drivers that reached one million Dirhams.

Abu Dhabi Police stated that it has formed a specialized committee to look into any grievances against the registration of traffic offenses to which the Vehicle Seizure Law, which has recently entered into force, applies.

In detail, the Deputy Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police, Brigadier Salim Abdullah bin Barak Al Dhaheri, affirmed that any driver has the right to object to any traffic violation registered against him, indicating that there is a specialized committee that examines these grievances, and was formed within the framework of the keenness of the General Command Abu Dhabi Police on the approach of transparency.

He warned that Abu Dhabi Police decided, within the vehicle seizure law, to oblige drivers to pay the full financial fines to unblock the vehicle, in the event that the value of the traffic fines imposed on the vehicle exceeds the amount of 7000 dirhams, pointing out that this came in light of the intention of some drivers not to early payment of violations. And it accumulated until it reached large sums.

Al Dhaheri considered that setting a maximum limit for traffic violations would contribute to limiting the accumulation of traffic violations on drivers, and increasing their awareness of adherence to traffic and traffic laws, adding that notifications will be sent via text messages on drivers ’phones if the total of violations reaches an amount of 7000 dirhams.

In response to a question by Emirates Today regarding the mechanism for applying the vehicle seizure law to violating vehicles licensed from outside the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Al Dhaheri clarified that the same is the case for vehicles licensed in Abu Dhabi, as long as the violation was committed within the emirate, where the driver will be obligated to carry out the reservation and pay the prescribed fees to break the reservation. And the violation will remain in a state of "closed", and its owner cannot renew his vehicle until he pays its value and the fees for dismantling its seizure, explaining that the Violations Department does not accept payment of fines until after the vehicle is seized, and after the end of the seizure period, he can pay the value of raising the reservation.

He stressed that the vehicle seizure law aims to deter reckless drivers on the roads, as penalties and vehicle seizure fees have been intensified, to reduce reckless and reckless behaviors, which cause many traffic accidents that result in injuries, deaths and significant financial losses.

He stated that the Abu Dhabi Police General Command began implementing the Vehicle Seizure Law No. (5) of 2020, with the aim of strengthening the traffic safety system, achieving the highest standards of security for road users, and increasing their awareness of the importance of adhering to traffic regulations.

According to the legislation in force in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the decision specified a number of cases that require seizing the vehicle, and the financial value for dismantling it, among them the financial value of removing the reservation in the event that a child under the age of 10 years is allowed to sit in the front seat of the vehicle, an amount of 5000 dirhams, while the value Removing the reservation in the event that the vehicle exceeds the red light of 50 thousand dirhams, in addition to withdrawing the driving license of the violating driver for a period of six months, starting from the date of revoking the license.
