10 September 2020The Extraordinary Commissioner for the Covid Emergency, Domenico Arcuri, reassures families and school leaders and clarifies: "no school is without surgical masks. All students, the entire teaching staff and all non-teaching staff will have every a free surgical mask day.
In fact, 41 million surgical masks have already arrived in institutions of all types and levels. By Monday 14, another 77 million will arrive, enough for two more weeks of lessons. They will then be distributed to primary schools , again by next Monday, a further 16 million masks for children, enough to ensure the safe reopening of these institutions too.
The distribution of free masks for students and school staff will then continue on a weekly or bi-weekly basis depending on the size of the student population.
No school is or will be without surgical masks. "
