Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed today with a high-ranking Chadian delegation headed by Abdel Karim, son of Chadian President Idriss Deby, the possibility of an exchange of ambassadors and the opening of an embassy for the African state in occupied Jerusalem.

A statement issued by Netanyahu's office said that he met with the son of the Chadian president and the deputy director of his office, who heads the delegation, to discuss ways to strengthen relations between the two countries in all fields, including the exchange of ambassadors and the opening of diplomatic representations, one of them in Jerusalem.

And participated in the meeting between Netanyahu and Deby, head of Chadian intelligence, and the Chadian delegation met with other Israeli officials, including the head of the National Security Authority, Meir Ben Shabat.

The Chadian delegation is scheduled to meet tomorrow, Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi, according to the Israel Broadcasting Corporation.

The statement added that Netanyahu reminded of the relations between Israel and Chad during the talks that were held with the UAE prior to the announcement of the normalization agreement between them last month.

In a separate statement, Israeli Intelligence Minister Eli Cohen said that the Netanyahu government would send a business delegation to develop possible mineral projects in Chad.

Chadian President Idriss Déby visited Israel in November 2018, to start a process to revive the relations that Chad broke off in 1927, and in 2019 Netanyahu visited Chad, where he announced the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two parties.
