Racing supporters are likely to be disappointed.

The prefect of Bas-Rhin announced it on Monday, she will ultimately not grant an exemption to RC Strasbourg for the next match at Meinau.

The Alsatian club will therefore not be able to accommodate more than 5,000 spectators for the reception of Dijon in Ligue 1 on Sunday, September 20.

“The regulations are clear: given the passage of the Bas-Rhin in the virus circulation zone, there are few possibilities for the prefect to give an exemption.

It's regulatory ”, justified Josiane Chevalier, who had given birth to hope on August 29.

An incidence rate above the alert threshold

That day, after a visit to the stadium on the sidelines of the match against Nice (0-2), she had mentioned a possible increase in the authorized gauge and had given rise to hope.

"If things go well and if the health situation remains under control, I hope to be able to grant an exemption for the next match," she said.

The situation has since changed and the Alsatian capital now has an incidence rate above the alert threshold set by the health authorities.

More than 60 people out of 100,000 inhabitants tested positive for Covid-19 last week.
