China News Agency reporter Chen Jing

As a form of artistic expression, music that people love to hear can affect a variety of transmitters and hormones in the body and become a means of auxiliary treatment.

Medical institutions in Shanghai are constantly exploring and developing music therapy to help patients relieve anxiety, feel the beauty of life, and increase confidence in a healthy life.

The reporter walked into Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital on the 7th to experience a moment of peace and tranquility brought by music therapy.

Ms. Yang from the Jing'an District Cancer Rehabilitation Promotion Association told reporters that she is a loyal “fan” of music therapy in the Shanghai No. 10 Hospital. Every time the hospital conducts music therapy activities, she will actively sign up for it.

As a cancer rehabilitation volunteer, Ms. Yang is often active in front of cancer patients' beds, inspiring people with a smile.

She said frankly: "Although I smile at people every day, I often feel anxious and helpless in my heart. The meditation activities of music therapy make me feel calm and relaxed. Every music therapy gives me strong psychological support."

Music therapy is to use the elements and forms of music to treat patients. By alleviating and eliminating people's bad emotions, they can see a beautiful life through self-acceptance.

Xu Gang, director of the Rehabilitation Department of Shanghai No. 10 Hospital and an expert in music therapy united outpatient department, told reporters that the initial creation of music therapy was due to the concerns of medical staff in the oncology department and other intensive care departments.

Some patients recovered well during treatment in the hospital, and all the indicators were normal, but after being discharged from the hospital, they were rechecked after a period of time, but they found that many indicators continued to decline and their health conditions continued to deteriorate.

Some patients who have been considered by doctors to survive at least 10 years have not even "lived" the 5-year survival period.

The ten hospitals explored the establishment of a music therapy multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment team composed of rehabilitation, psychiatric, psychological nursing experts and social workers to provide music therapy interventions for patients with psychological rehabilitation needs.

The therapist plays the roles of "teacher", "doctor" and "friend".

They understand the cause of the patient, the diagnosis of the disease and the needs of the patient, use professional knowledge to design a personalized comprehensive treatment plan, and use music to solve psychological problems.

Sheng Zijia, a music therapist from the Tenth Hospital, told the story of a case when interviewed by reporters.

Prior to this, 16-year-old high school girl Ning Ning (a pseudonym) suffered from severe depression and sleep disorders and had been away from school for more than a year.

At the beginning of this year, Ningning became more emotional due to the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic.

After 3 courses of music therapy combined with outpatient treatment, Ningning successfully returned to school.

Before the start of this semester, Ning Ning, who challenged the life of living on campus, asked the doctor Sheng Zijia for some sleep-aid music. Accompanied by the doctor's carefully selected songs, she successfully integrated into the school collective life.

Since 2015, the Tenth Academy has established a special "Music Therapy Joint Studio" in cooperation with the Shanghai University Conservatory of Music and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. The German music therapist Wolfgang Mastnak has been hired as a consultant.

Over the past 5 years, many patients have benefited from this.

The hospital has carried out more than 500 individual treatments and more than 4000 group treatments.

In fact, the medical staff working on the front line have a huge workload every day, and the accumulation of stress will cause job burnout.

The reporter learned during the interview that the hospital will regularly carry out music therapy activities for medical and nurses to relieve their pressure.

These doctors and nurses who usually help patients relieve their pain have said: "I felt extremely relaxed in the music therapy activities, and my eyebrows were all smiled." "I feel the importance of physical and mental health, and will try to balance the body and mind at work."

It is reported that the tenth hospital successfully explored and carried out music therapy interventions and won many honors such as the "Case of Humanistic Brand Innovation" by the China Life Care Association, the "Innovative Volunteer Service Project" of the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, and received funding from Shanghai and even the country. .
