Four days after the start of the school year, 22 establishments have already closed their doors due to proven cases of coronavirus.

A complicated situation to manage for the parents of the children concerned.

The government ensures that two avenues are being studied for parents who have no childcare solution.

Four days after the start of the school year, the coronavirus epidemic is already disrupting the start of the school year in several establishments.

As announced by the Minister of National Education Jean-Michel Blanquer, Friday on Europe 1, 22 schools are closed in France, as well as a hundred classes, due to proven cases of Covid-19.

A situation that embarrasses the parents of children whose classes or schools are closed, because organizing for childcare is not easy.

If the government has not yet decided, it is studying several solutions.

The government's goal is clear: that parents continue to work if the school is closed.

For this, at the Ministry of National Education, we are considering "local childcare solutions", for example with the opening of places by local communities to keep children deprived of school.

"I don't know how we would have done"

In the meantime, parents have to get by and improvise, by taking time off, RTT, or teleworking.

A teacher as a colleague, Alexandra saw her three children's school in Marseille close its doors on Friday because of a case of contamination.

"My principal said to me 'no, you can't stop because you have to have been in contact with a case yourself," she says.

"We were lucky that on Friday, we worked shifted with my husband. It's the only day of the week that this happens. We were very lucky, I don't know how we would have done it."

"We are in the immediate future," she continues.

"When we are alerted that a case occurs, we will not wait for the establishment of a system which can take 15 days to a month".

On the side of the Ministry of Labor, it is assured that two avenues are being studied for parents who have no custody solution: daily allowances, where, as in a classic sick leave, the employee is paid by Social Security , and the use of partial activity.

The device should be announced soon.
