During a meeting held today, Thursday, the Palestinian leadership and factions will discuss ways to end the division and confront the Israeli plan to annex parts of the West Bank in light of the accelerated normalization path between Israel and Arab countries.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas chairs the meeting, which will be held simultaneously in Ramallah and Beirut, and includes the general secretaries of the Palestinian factions under the Palestine Liberation Organization, in addition to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Islamic Jihad.

In a tweet on Twitter, Hussein al-Sheikh, a member of the Central Committee of the National Liberation Movement (Fatah), Hussein al-Sheikh, said that the meeting will begin with an important word for President Abbas, adding that it is an important strategic step on the path to national political consensus, and a preparation for the road to reconciliation, ending the division, and political partnership.

The various factions welcomed the meeting, and officials in the Palestinian leadership emphasized that the meeting seeks to agree on a national program to confront the American peace plan, the Israeli annexation plan, and the Palestinian rejection of free normalization with the occupation.

Multiple Palestinian sources also confirmed that the meeting sends messages to the international community that the Palestinians are united in their rejection of the American plan, the Israeli annexation plan, and the normalization agreements with Israel.

In the same context, leaders of Palestinian factions affiliated with the Liberation Organization denounced statements by Jared Kushner, senior adviser to US President Donald Trump, calling for the creation of a new Palestinian leadership, and talking about a "presentation on the table" for the Palestinians, in reference to the US peace plan that provides for the establishment of a state. Palestinian scattered parts, with all of Jerusalem considered the capital of Israel.

The Palestinian leadership and factions had condemned the American plan that was revealed early this year at the White House, as well as the agreement of the UAE and Israel to normalize relations between them.
